About me.

Hi! My name is Maria and I am a happy person

If I were to describe myself in three words I would choose Ambitious, Proactive, and Open-minded. For me, self-improvement is a never-ending process, and I believe that the higher our aspirations. the higher our chances to succeed. Now I focus on building a career that would blend my two favorite things: People and Hard work. And while my professional background revolves around hospitality, I would be thrilled to reveal my analytical, creative, and organizational skills while being part of a marketing or project management team.

My study path

Since high school, I have been acquiring economic-related knowledge, therefor enrolling in the bachelor's degree "Business and Tourism" came naturally. After taking a year off to clearly define my professional goals, I have enrolled in the international master's degree "Entrepreneurship and Tourism" - major in "Marketing, Management & Tourism". This major offered a holistic, hands-on perspective of the subjects, and while answering a series of my questions, created many more that I would enjoy answering in my next professional endeavor.

My career path

In the second year of my bachelor's program, I started an internship in a travel agency. I tried almost everything from product development to online marketing, or from sales to website content.

After this engaging, challenging experience, I changed the business profile and started working as a Front Office Attendee in Radisson Blu 5* Hotel, Bucharest. Here everything clicked and fell into place. It was the hustle, it was the people, it was the professionalism, it was the laugh, it was the stress... it was as Charles Dickens would say" It was the best of times, it was the worst of times".

I have been learning, improving myself daily, and understanding what being a hospitality professional means. I learned to master the Opera PMS system, understand the difference between a Customer Service Manager and a Concierge, how to manage an angry person and how to be humbled when guests thanked me for things I forget I even did.

Once I  moved to Innsbruck in 2018 I started working in the Front Office Department in the AC Hotel Innsbruck 4* by  Marriott. Even though the position was the same, my attributions increased. Some of my daily tasks included maximizing the occupancy rates, keeping permanent contact with the guests and partners through email, extranet, and CRM platforms, providing guidance and support in case of service failure, and overseeing and training my colleagues.

Nevertheless, interacting with guests from countless nations is at times a challenging task but undoubtedly an incredible way to understand different cultures and learn how to address different requests or issues.
